If you like your TVs like you like your, er, partners –slim, stylish and expensive–then you’re a good candidate for the Hitachi UT37X902. At a mere 1.5 inches thick, this thinnest of all LCDs costs a bundle but looks better turned off than just about any TV we’ve ever reviewed. No matter how you slice it, the Hitachi UT37X902 is one thin display.

Do you have any evidence of that? –Scott, via e-mail A: Yes it does and yes I do, but first it’s worth mentioning that you don’t necessarily need to pay hundreds of dollars for a professional calibration to get the savings

How to best recycle electronics is a problem I’ve had to deal with more than a few times at CNET. I have to be honest, during busy work cycles, the garbage bin has looked very appealing as an easy out when an obsolete laptop or graphics card needs discarding. ..

We’re not always the biggest fans of convergence in our electronics. Separate components usually work better than all-in-one units, and it’s much easier to upgrade a component when new technology comes out

New York City over-the-air analog TV stations went dark for two minutes today. The prescheduled test gave a temporary taste of what’s planned when the stations permanently pull the analog plug on February 17, 2009.
